A storm rolled through Blossom Music Center on Tuesday night causing Lil Wayne to delay the start of his set by 45 minutes.  That delay of course, pushed back the starting time of Blink-182's set as well.   Both artists, however did play their full set.

​

Many patrons on the lawn got a free upgrade when they were told via PA to take shelter in the pavilion just minutes before the sky opened up.

​

Since the pavilion wasn't sold out, many people grabbed a seat that was unoccupied and remained there for the rest of the show.  Others squeezed in where they could and even some returned to the lawn after the rain subsided.  

​

After the delay, Lil Wayne's DJ proceed to spin records for about 20 minutes before Weezy took the stage.  Why he couldn't have done this while the show was delayed is beyond me.  It just seemed to make a late night even later.

​

Opening the show with "6 Foot 7 Foot," Lil Wayne proceeded to blow through twenty-eight songs in about 50 minutes which included ten cover songs!

​

Even though Blink-182 and Lil Wayne seems like an odd double bill, the majority of the audience were singing along to both artists.

​

Weezy played his hits such as "Lollipop" and "A Milli" behind a live band that featured a guitarist, a bassist, a drummer and a DJ.  I appreciate the live musicians instead of just rapping over a record like most hip-hop artists do.

​

After a quick set change, Blink 182 hit the stage and proceeded to play their 1999 multi-platinum album Enema Of The State in it's entirety. 

​

The fans were on their feet and singing along to the singles from that album like "What's My Age Again?," "Adam's Song" and "All The Small Things."

​

The third song, "Aliens Exist" saw the bands crew throw out huge inflatable aliens to the audience. 

​

Bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus was a bundle of energy, bounding back and forth across the stage.  Vocalist/guitarist and newest member of the band, Matt Skiba was a little more stoic, while drummer Travis Barker was exciting to watch as he twirled his sticks and basically put on a show by himself. 

​

Before playing "Anthem," Hoppus told the audience that "This is our last song."  After a pause he continued, "Then we'll play some other songs!"

​

After a brief intermission, the band returned to play seven other songs from their career including "I Miss You," "Blame It On My Youth," "First Date" and the show closing "Dammit."

​

Blink-182 put on a fun, high energy show, which was more in my wheelhouse as opposed to Lil Wayne.
