Grammy-Award winning artist Boz Scaggs made a stop at the Hard Rock Rocksino on Thursday evening in support of  his latest release Out Of The Blues.

​

Kicking off the show with "JoJo,"  Scaggs led his great six-piece band which included a multi-instrumentalist (sax, keys, guitars), a keyboardist, a bassist, a guitarist, a drummer and a percussionist, that was note-perfect throughout the 100 minute set.

​

Scaggs, who was born in Canton, still has a great voice and nimble fingers as he laid down some fancy work on the fret board.

​

The septuagenarian played songs from almost every aspect of his career, but did rely heavily on the multi-platinum selling Silk Degrees.   Songs such as "Harbor Lights," "Georgia" and "It's Over" were a treat to hear in a live setting.  Many new songs like "Rock and Stick," "Radiator 101," and a cover of Bobby Blue Bland's "The Feeling Is Gone" fit in nicely.

"Some Change," which Scaggs said was a song that was "more of the blues vein," was extended to showcase his guitar skills as he played a tasty solo on his big brown Gibson ES.

​

Fans finally got on their feet at the end of the set as the band launched into two of Scaggs' biggest hits, "Lowdown" and "Lido Shuffle."

​

The band returned to encore with "Loan Me A Dime" and a great version of Chuck Berry's "You Never Can Tell."

​

The crowd stayed on their feet and demanded that Boz come out and do one more song.  He and the band obliged by playing a second encore and finally closing the show with "Breakdown Dead Ahead."

​

It was a master class by a true master of his craft.  

​

This, boys and girls, is how it's done.
