Bret Michaels

Brought A Good Time

To The Canton Palace Theatre

December 27, 2019

Bret Michaels brought his solo tour to a packed Canton Palace Theater the day after Christmas.  Fans got to experience Michaels in a more intimate setting before he and the rest of his band mates in Poison head out this summer on The Stadium Tour with Def Leppard, Motley Crue and Joan Jett.

It was a typical high energy show from Michaels, that featured Poison classics, sing-a-longs and even a few cover tunes.

The show started off with a trio of Poison songs, "Talk Dirty To Me," "Ride The Wind" and "Look What The Cat Dragged In."  He then broke out his latest song "Unbroken" a ballad that was co-written by his youngest daughter, Jorja.

Michaels invited everyone to come out to see Poison and the rest of the bands on The Stadium Tour this summer, but he also mentioned that he might come back to Canton next winter for a solo gig as well.

During "Something To Believe In," Bret brought out a few police officers and veterans to share the spotlight with him and thank them for their service.

The only disappointing thing from this show was the drum, bass and guitar solos.  Not saying that these musicians aren't competent, because they are all really good.  However in 2019, unless you are doing something innovative, I feel most fans would rather hear another song or two played instead of a solo.

The same thing can be said for the cover songs.  "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Your Mama Don't Dance" are fun songs, but there are more hit songs in the Poison catalog that could be played like "I Want Action," "Cry Tough" or "I Won't Forget You."

"Every Rose Has Its Thorn" and the party anthem "Nothin' But A Good Time" closed out the set and had the audience dancing and singing along.

It was a post-Christmas party held in Canton's best venue.

See you at The Stadium Tour this summer!
