Ghost Haunts

Covelli Center

October 12, 2019

Ghost made their long awaited return to northeastern Ohio when they made as stop at The Covelli Center on October 12th.  Several thousand fans traveled from all the area to check out this band who hasn't played here since 2016.

Cardinal Copia, the latest character from Tobias Forge, took the stage with a tight seven piece band of ghouls.  The band, all dressed in black and wearing masks, provided the musical background while the Cardinal sang lead vocals.

The enthusiastic crowd ate up what the Cardinal was preaching.  Songs like "Rats," "Devil Church" and "Spirit" seemed to hit the mark with the congregation.

Ghost is a combination of Alice Cooper, King Diamond and Kiss, but with less theatrics.  Musically, they sound great but I was expecting a little more from their stage show.

The Cardinal changed outfits a few times throughout the concert.  He wore a tight red suit with tails to begin the show.  After a strange guitar dual between two of the ghoul guitarists, Cardinal Copia came out riding a tricycle wearing a white suit.  He then switched to a black cloak and then to a black suit.

I guess I just don't get it.

But the fans in attendance loved it and that's what it's all about.

"Mummy Dust," "Kiss The Go-Goat" and last years number one mainstream hit, "Dance Macabre" closed out the set.

Nothing More, a Texas based quartet, opened the show with an inspired set of good rockin' tunes.
