Justin Timberlake

Returns To Rock

The Q

October 4, 2018

Justin Timberlake brought his Man Of The Woods tour to Quicken Loans Arena on Tuesday evening.  Timberlake and company previously played Quicken Loans Arena back in March during the first leg of the tour.  Although the show was a redux of the tour stop early last Spring, fans didn't seem to mind.

JT is one of those rare entertainers who can do it all, yet make it seem so effortless. The man can sing, play multiple instruments (guitar, piano and sample machine) and dance.

Boy, can he dance.

From one end of The Q, where the main stage was set up, to the catwalks that snaked across the floor, Timberlake easily put in ten miles throughout his two-hour set as he made his way between both stages all night, giving many fans a close seat. The staging included a smaller center stage and another stage at the other end of the arena, providing most people, even in the nosebleeds, a closeup view of the activities.

Most numbers were choreographed and featured  six backup dancers; however, you could tell Timberlake ad-libbed a few moves along the way.

Kicking off the show with “Filthy,” the former Mouseketeer and his great backing band concentrated on JT's latest drop Man Of The Woods by playing eight songs from that album.

It wasn't until the more familiar tune, "SexyBack"  where fans really got into the show.

"Suit and Tie" featured Timberlake doing some fancy moves with a microphone stand.

"Cry Me A River" was fantastic and "Mirrors," which became a huge sing-a-long, could have easily ended the show.

However, he and his crew went to the far stage where a campfire was set up and they went acoustic.  His backup singers took the spotlight and got to sing lead on tunes like Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams," Lauren Hill's "Ex-Factor," The Beatles' "Come Together" and John Denver's "Thank God I'm A Country Boy."

Things picked back up as they played "Rock Your Body" and "Like I Love You."

This very entertaining show came to an end with the feel-good song "Can't Stop This Feeling."

The only thing missing, perhaps, were a few N'Sync tunes.

But we'll save those, hopefully, for another time.
