The music of Queen is alive and well.  There has been a resurgence of Queen music on the radio and several tunes have been used in TV commercials since the popularity of the Academy Award winning film, Bohemian Rhapsody. 

​

Queen tribute band, Killer Queen has been around since 1993 and their experience and professionalism was on display when they hit the MGM Center Stage for a sold-out show last Saturday night.

​

They have the look, the mannerisms and most importantly, the sound of Queen down pat.

​

Opening the show with "One Vision," singer Patrick Myers quickly had the audience in the palm of his hand with his Freddie Mercury like stage presence and uncanny vocals.

​

During "Another One Bites The Dust," there was a technical problem where the guitarist power to his instrument.  The fast thinking Myers went right to the piano to play the guitar parts on the keys to finish the song while the support staff fixed the problem. 

​

It was hit after hit as "Killer Queen," "Bicycle Race" and "Fat Bottomed Girls" were played in the first portion of the set.

​

The only drawback to the show was an extended guitar solo in the middle of the set.  I realize time was need for a costume change, but I felt the solo went on a few minutes too long.

​

A nice surprise came when they played the deep cut "Sail On Sweet Sister" from The Game.

​

The first set ended with two fan favorites "Somebody To Love" and "Radio Ga Ga."

​

Myers came back to the piano and when he played the intro to "Bohemian Rhapsody" the crowd erupted and sang every word along with Myers.

​

The Queen experience came to a close with "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions."

 

They are truly one of the best cover bands that I have ever seen.
