Slash is definitely living the dream.

 

After reuniting with Guns N Roses in 2016 and finishing out their Not In This Lifetime tour this upcoming fall, Slash has managed to put out a new album with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators tilted Living The Dream.  Slash and company are out supporting the new album and they made a stop at MGM’s Center Stage on Thursday to a sold-out crowd.

 

Kicking off the show with “The Call of the Wild,” Slash and the boys had the fans on their feet from the first note.

 

Unlike past Slash shows, this performance relied heavily on songs from the three albums that featured Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators and not so much from Slash’s other bands, Guns N Roses and Velvet Revolver.

 

Actually, only one Guns song was played and nothing was played from the two Velvet Revolver releases.

 

But the crowd ate it up anyway because the music from The Conspirators can stand on its own.

 

Songs like “My Antidote,” “Back From Cali” and “Shadow Life” rock just as hard as anything from Slash’s catalog.

 

In the middle of the set, Kennedy got a break as bassist Todd Kerns took over the vocals on “We’re All Gonna Die” and “Doctor Alibi.”  He wore a WMMS Buzzard T-shirt while guitarist Frank Sidoris sported a retro “Cleveland Rocks” t-shirt and drummer Brent Fitz donned at “Heart Of Rock and Roll” t-shirt with the Cleveland skyline on it.  This easily scored some points with the crowd.

 

Later on, the audience went nuts after the familiar intro to “Nightrain” was played and the band proceed to kill on that tune.   

 

The highlight of the show happened when Myles and Slash sat center stage together to play “Starlight.”

 

The only drawback from the concert was that Slash took some long, extended solo’s on a couple of tunes that seemed to slow down the show.

 

The just over two hour show came to a close as the band played “Avalon” and “Anastasia” to end their 22 song set. 

 

Dirty Honey, a Los Angeles based quartet opened the show with some great rock and roll.  This young group easily won over the crowd with their high energy performance.  

You can definitely tell that they have been influenced by Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and The Black Crowes.  But Dirty Honey has their own sound and it rocks.

 

Their new single, “When I’m Gone” had the audience rocking along with the band.

 

This up and coming band should be on your radar.  You can get your opportunity to check them out when they open up for Alter Bridge this fall.  

 

Do it now, because this band will be headliners soon.
