Foghat And Nazareth Put On
A Great Classic Rock Show
At Goodyear
May 7, 2026

The Goodyear Theater was the place to be last night as two great acts from the '70s filled the air with classic rock. Platinum selling artists Foghat and Nazareth brought a straight ahead rock and roll show to a nearly sold-out audience.

Up first was Nazareth. The Scottish based band came out and tore through an hour long set. Original bassist, Pete Agnew held down the low end while long time members guitarist Jimmy Murrison and drummer Lee Agnew kept the music flowing. New lead singer Gianni Pontillo did a fantastic job fronting the band. He has a raspiness to his voice that was reminiscent of original vocalist Dan McCafferty.

Half of the set featured songs from their break out album Hair of the Dog. Selections like "Miss Misery" and "Whiskey Drinkin' Woman" were met with welcome applause. In the middle of the set, a song that I had even forgot about, "Holiday" jogged back memories of a more simple, carefree time in my life.

They saved their two biggest songs for last, "Love Hurts" and "Hair of the Dog" which turned into a big sing-a-long with the crowd.

After a quick set change, Foghat took to the stage with a rockin' version of "Road Fever."

The band sounded fantastic as lead singer/guitarist Scott Holt traded licks with long time guitarist Bryan Bassett. While original drummer Roger Earl and bassist Rodney O'Quinn kept the rhythm section thumping all night.

Songs from 2022's #1 record Sonic Mojo, "Drivin' On" and "She's A Little Bit Of Everything" fit in nicely with classics like "Stone Blue" and "Third Time Lucky (First Time I Was A Fool."

"Fool For The City" had many people rockin' and singing along in their seats. An extended version of "I Just Want To Make Love To You" really showed of the fretwork from Holt and Bassett.

As a special treat, the band tore into a great version of Wild Cherry's "Play That Funky Music" that featured O'Quinn on vocals because Bryan Bassett is an original member of Wild Cherry and he came up with that iconic guitar riff.

At the start of the bands last song of the night, the guitar intro got people up on their feet as they made their way to the front of the stage to rock out with the band on their biggest hit, "Slow Ride." It became a party for everyone in the building as they left wanting more.

What a great night for classic rock in a beautiful venue in downtown Akron.
