Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist from The Police, Andy Summers brought his Cracked Lens + Missing String tour to The Kent Stage for a night of stories, photographs and music.

Things got off to a shaky start as their were technical difficulties with the microphones for the first three songs.  First, his headset mic was cutting in and out.  So they brought him a hand held mic, and that also went out.  He then offered to "just play the guitar."

It was a multi-media show as Summers played the guitar accompanied by backing tracks and his photography that was shown on the screen behind him.

Several solo songs were played which included, "True Nature," "Metal Dog" and "The
Bones of Chuang Tzu."

After four songs were played, finally a song from The Police made the set.  "Tea In The Sahara" from Synchronicity was played while photos from Summers time in Africa were displayed.

Summers also told stories from the time he spent with his band, which he conveniently forgot the names of his former bandmates.  Perhaps because he and Stewart Copeland have a lawsuit against Sting for the royalties for "Every Breath You Take."

Some of these stories included the time playing in Asia where Summers kicked a police officer because he was harassing a female patron.  Another fun story was accidentally meeting up with John Belushi in Bali and going on an adventure.  The best part about it was he had the photos to back up the stories.

"Roxanne" ever The Police staple, found its' way into the middle of the set much to the delight of Police fans in the crowd.

A few covers like "'Round Midnight" by Thelonious Monk and Luis Bonfa's "Menha de Carnaval" fit nicely into his instrumental set.

Most fans, including myself, came to hear some tunes from The Police and Summers delivered three classics at the end of the show.  "Spirits In The Material World,' "Bring On The Night" and "Message In A Bottle" closed out the show on a very high note.
