Black Stone Cherry

Rocks The Blues

On Their New EP

Black To Blues

Volume 2

Kentucky based rockers, Black Stone Cherry, are set to release a great new EP titled Back To Blues Volume 2 on November 1st.

Hot off the success of 2018's studio album Family Tree, the band decided to pay homage to their Blues hero's once again.  This time around Blues legends Freddie King, Robert Johnson, Howlin' Wolf, Otis Rush, Elmore James and Son House get the Black Stone Cherry treatment.

And these boys tear it up!

The EP kicks off with a funky, piano tinged take of "Big Legged Woman" by Freddie King.

Perhaps the best song on the album and the first single is  a rockin' version of Robert Johnson's "Me And The Devil Blues."  You can't help but tap your feet and bob your head when this track is played.  They knocked this one out of the park.

"Early One Morning" features some fine Hammond B-3 organ playing by Yates Mckindree.

The EP ends with "Death Letter Blues."  Although this tune is missing Son House's trademarked slide guitar playing, this song just flat out rocks!

The only thing that is disappointing about this record is that it isn't long enough.  After hearing Black Stone Cherry's take on these six Blues classic's, the listener is left wanting more.

If you like your Blues with a rockin' edge, check out Black Stone Cherry's new EP, Black To Blues Volume 2.  You will be glad that you did.
