Pat Monahan and the rest of Train rolled into the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheater on a hot Tuesday night to perform some pop rock classics.

This was exactly the type of show fans needed to forget about life for a few hours.  Catchy hooks with sing-a-long lyrics that has everyone standing in their seats (or on the lawn) and dancing and having a good time.

Monahan is a great front man as well.  During "If It's Love," he had people in the front row throw their phones up to him so he could take a selfie with them from the stage.  Later on in the show, he threw out Train t-shirts to the audience including one that he was wearing that was signed by the entire band on stage.

However, it's the songs like "Calling All Angels," "Save Me, San Francisco" and "50 Ways To Say Goodbye" that got people singing along.

Early in the set, Monahan admitted that "I wish I would have written this song, but I didn't.  We're gonna play if for you anyway."  With that the band launched into a great cover of Teddy Swims "Lose Control."

Speaking of covers, Train mashed up several of their hit songs with snippets of other tunes throughout the night.  Examples of this were "Meet Virginia" and Steve Miller's "The Joker" "Angel In Blue Jeans" and Hozier's "Too Sweet" and "Hey, Soul Sister" and "Come and Get Your Love" by Redbone.

Instead of leaving the stage to come back for an encore, Monahan said "I'm not going to waste anyone's time."  So they stayed on the stage and brought out opener Edwin McCain to play a great version of "Hotel California."

Then to close the show, Train performed in my opinion, one of the best pop songs of the past twenty-five years, "Drops of Jupiter."

Edwin McCain opened up the show with selections from his Adult Oriented rock which included "I Could Not Ask For More" and "I'll Be."  He did show off his sense of humor by stating that he hears his songs at Walmart and Home Depot and makes his kids stand next to him and listen to the song.  He told them, "that song is going to put you through community college.... or rehab!"

Another great night was had at Youngstown's great outdoor facility.
