Hall of Fame guitarist, Steve Hackett and incredible backing band put on a very entertaining show at Goodyear Theater last night.

The first half showcased Hackett's solo material that was raw, evocative, and modern in its production. Highlighting songs from The Circus and the Nightwhale and Voyage Of The Acolyte, Hackett showed off his dexterity on the fretboard throughout the set. His tapping style on songs like "The Devil's Cathedral" and "Shadow of the Hierophant" would make Eddie Van Halen smile.
While the second half dove deep into the classic Genesis era that included nine songs from The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. Vocalist Nad Sylvan nailed all of the Peter Gabriel parts and the rest of the backing band expertly performed their parts as well.
Highlights of this set included the title track, "Carpet Crawlers" and "The Chamber of 32 Doors."

After The Lamb highlights were completed, Hackett and company took the audience on a twenty minute adventure that was "Supper's Ready" which ended the second set.

The band returned to perform what many consider to be Hackett's masterpiece "Firth of Fifth" along with a drum solo that went into "Los Endos."

Musically, the performance hit all the high marks: virtuoso guitar work, crisp interplay
between the band members, and a strong emotional undercurrent. At times it felt like hearing the original recordings come alive, but with fresh energy and interpretative
tweaks that kept things from becoming stale.
