Sons Of Cream
Brought The Classic Sounds Of Cream To
Music Box
March 6, 2026

The Sons of Cream brought the classic sounds that their fathers created to The Music Box Supper Club last night.

The band, featuring Malcolm Bruce on bass, son of Jack. Kofi Baker on drums, son of Ginger and Rob Johnson on guitar, the nephew of Ginger Baker.

The trio opened up the show with a great version of "White Room" that segued into "SWLABR" that featured Johnson on vocals.

In keeping with the tradition of Cream, the band explored the musical space and went into some improvisational parts on many songs. Not playing them exactly note for note like their fathers did, but rather letting their own feelings take them were the songs would lead them.

The first set featured some Cream deep cuts like "Sleepy Time Time" and "Sweet Wine." Of course no Cream concert would be complete without their rocking version of Robert Johnson's "Cross Road Blues."

After a brief intermission, the second set kicked off with "N.S.U."
A few Blind Faith covers also made the set as "Can't Find My Way Home" and "Had To Cry Today" were played to the enjoyment of the packed Music Box crowd.
Rounding out the show were Howlin' Wolf's "Spoonful" and a spirited version of Cream's "White Room."
It was a great tribute by The Sons of Cream to keep the spirit of their father's music alive.
