Stepping into Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on a brisk Thursday night, there was an electric buzz in the air well before the first chord struck. The crowd ranged from die-hard rock veterans belting out every lyric to newcomers soaking in the spectacle, setting a tone that was both communal and charged with anticipation.

When I Prevail took the stage, the intensity in the arena kicked up noticeably. Known for their aggressive yet melodic metalcore, the Michigan band delivered a tightly executed set that had fans moving. From crushing riffs to soaring choruses, their performance was both crisp and commanding. Visually, their show was as engaging as their music. Lighting, stage effects and plenty of pyro enhanced the mood without overshadowing the band’s raw energy, giving long-time fans and first-timers alike plenty to latch onto. Many in the crowd responded enthusiastically, especially during high-impact moments where the tempo surged and chants broke out across sections of the floor and lower bowl.

Finally, Three Days Grace headlined with the kind of presence that only comes from decades of touring and a stacked catalog of hits. The Canadian rockers dove into a set list that balanced classic fan favorites with selections from their latest work supporting their Alienation tour — a run celebrating not just new music but the return of original frontman Adam Gontier alongside Matt Walst. The crowd’s reaction was immediate: hands in the air, voices rising in unison during the opening riffs of “Animal I Have Become,” and an unmissable chorus of applause that seemed to shake the arena.

It was another great showing of the metal faithful in the Rock and Roll capital of the world.
