Five For Fighting
And Edwin McCain
Shared The Stage
Saturday Night

June 15, 2026

Five For Fighting (John Ondrasik) and Edwin McCain brought their adult-contemporary hits to the Northfield Park Racino on Saturday night.

McCain took the stage first with his tight four-piece backing band that went into "I've Seen A Love" and "Jesters, Dreamers and Thieves."

Before playing "I Could Not Ask For More," McCain told the audience that if they had been in a Home Depot in the last ten years, they have probably heard this song.  He then quipped, "When I'm with my kids, I make them listen to it and tell them, 'This song will put you through community college one day!'"

This lighthearted and fun set continued with "Kool Miles" which is about his long time saxophonist and "Take Me."

After the heartfelt "Walk With You" which is about his daughter being born, McCain said that every time he gets to the point in the song where he wants to cry, he thinks about "how disgusting her room is and the tears dry up!"

Of course he saved his Top Five single, "I'll Be" for last.

After a brief set change, Five For Fighting took the stage with leader John Ondrasik out in front playing an acoustic guitar.

Ondrasik would switch between the guitar and piano throughout the set.  He also told stories of the origins of songs like "65 Mustang" and "Two Lights" which was dedicated to all the past and current military service members.

Towards the end of the set, Ondrasik gave the audience a choice of songs they wanted to hear.  He noted that he wanted to honor his influences so the he gave the audience a choice of "Desperado" or "Rocket Man."  "Rocket Man" was the  overwhelming choice so he and the band went into that song.

However, when it ended Ondrasik said that he didn't want anyone to feel disappointed leaving the show so they decided to play "Desparado" as well.

After a beautiful rendition of "Superman (It's Not Easy)," Five For Fighting brought Edwin McCain back out for a rousing duet of "Bohemian Rhapsody."

It was a great night of of nice laid back music on a warm summer evening.
