Matteo Mancuso
Wows Kent Stage
Audience

June 2, 2025

Italian guitarist Matteo Mancuso is on his first tour of America and he made a stop at the Kent Stage last night and blew the audience away with his impeccable guitar playing.

The twenty-eight year old has his own unique guitar stylings and plays a variety of music from jazz, prog-rock, jazz-fusion to straight ahead rock.  He can even shred when he wants to or when the song calls for it.

He along with drummer Gianluca Pellerito and bassist Riccardo Oliva kept the audience enthralled and entertained throughout their twelve song set.  Each member got their turn in the spotlight to show their prowess on their respective instruments.

His set included many original tunes and a few covers like "Fred" by Alan Holdsworth, "Havona" by the Weather Report and a great version of Jaco Pastorius' "The Chicken."

Mancuso was a man of few words, addressing the crowd occasionally to introduce a song or to thank them for attending the show.  Rather he let his music do the talking for him, which was fine by the very enthusiastic audience.

I'm sure we will be hearing a lot more from this young man.

I am just happy that I got to see him on his first US tour!
