Evanescence

Back To Life

Evanescence is out supporting their latest album, Sanctuary and they made a stop at Blossom Music Center last night along with Nova Twins and Spiritbox. 

​

Frontwoman Amy Lee proved time and again that she has one of the best voices in rock.  Dare I say, she is this generations Ann Wilson.

​

The group kicked off the show with "Sanctuary" and proceeded to play four consecutive songs from that release.  Lee stated early in the show that she was happy that the album was finally came out last month.

​

"Going Under" from their Diamond selling (10 million) debut album Fallen was followed by The Open Door's "Lithium." 

​

The band sounded fantastic and the lighting and background visuals were superb.  But it was Lee's voice and stage presence that stood out all night long.

​

In the middle of the set, Lee took center stage and sat behind a baby grand piano and told the nearly sold-out crowd "no matter what you are going through, you are not going through it alone."  She then played a beautiful rendition of "Forever Without You."

​

The piano was taken away and Lee made her way over to the keyboards on stage left, and started playing the intro to "Bring Me To Life" and everyone was on their feet.  Pyro and confetti cannons went off during their most popular song as everyone was singing and headbanging along.

​

Most artists would save their biggest song for the end, but Evanescence were far from being done.  "Better Without You" and "Imaginary" were played before Amy brought out the Nova Twins and Courtney LaPlante from Spiritbox to help her with "Fight Like A Girl."

​

Things slowed down again as Lee played a haunting version of "My Immortal" before the show closing "Wide Open Heart."

​

It was a perfect night for some hard rock led by female fronted bands.
